Diagnostics Disclaimer

Policy information

Version: 1.1

Issued: 29 April 2026

Review due: April 2027

1. Purpose

This disclaimer explains the limitations of diagnostic testing and health screening information provided through Alan James Clinics.

2. General Information

Diagnostic tests may provide useful clinical information, but results should be interpreted in the context of symptoms, medical history, medications, examination findings and other relevant factors.

3. Not a Substitute for Urgent Care

Diagnostics booked through the website are not intended for medical emergencies or urgent assessment.

If symptoms are severe, sudden, worsening or potentially urgent, patients should seek urgent medical advice through appropriate NHS or emergency services.

4. Results and Follow-Up

A normal result does not always exclude disease, and an abnormal result does not always confirm a diagnosis.

Some results may require repeat testing, GP review, specialist referral or further investigation.

5. Laboratory and Sampling Limitations

Laboratory results may be affected by sample quality, timing, biological variation, medications, fasting state, hydration, recent illness or other factors.

Occasionally, a sample may need repeating.

6. Patient Responsibility

Patients should provide accurate information and inform the clinic about relevant medical history, medication, symptoms, pregnancy status or other factors that may affect testing or interpretation.

7. Related Internal Policies

This website disclaimer is supported by Alan James Clinics’ clinical governance, consent, communication and confidentiality policies. Full internal policies may be available on request where appropriate.
